American Electric Karting League (AEKL) Round 2 Recap — Night Racing, New Records, and Fierce Competition!
The American Electric Karting League (AEKL) is in full swing! Round 2 of this season took place in Ohio at the Ohio Valley Karting Association track.
Night Racing — New Record and an Incredible Comeback
The competition was even tougher this round, with more talented drivers joining the league and raising the stakes.
The fastest driver of the night was James Overbeck (#48), who set a new electric karting lap record at the track — 28.914 seconds — becoming the official fastest driver of the event.
Even more impressive, James faced technical issues with his brakes during the semifinals, forcing him to start the final race from last place. However, he demonstrated true champion skills, fighting his way to the front and taking P1 on the podium!
We congratulate this young talent and are thrilled to see such high-caliber drivers embracing the world of electric karting.

Heavy Class — Tight Battles and New Leaders
In the Heavy Class, battles were fierce all the way to the final meters, reflected in some major shifts in the overall standings.
Kyler Carnes (#22), one of the league’s most consistent drivers, is now the current points leader with 35 points. Hot on his heels is last round’s winner, Jacks Lindner (#9), with 29 points. Climbing into the Top 3 is Guillermo Hernandez (#19) from Puerto Rico, who continues to show steady improvement with each race.
At this point, the AEKL features drivers representing six different countries — and with more European drivers expected in upcoming rounds, the level of competition is only going to rise!

Light Class — Emotion, Drama, and Rising Stars
The Light Class delivered an action-packed round filled with collisions, fierce rivalries, and intense energy — all part of what makes motorsports so exciting.
Emerging victorious once again was Yamori Richardson (#7), who secured his third consecutive P1 finish and now leads the standings with 60 points.
Meanwhile, rising star Federico Stubbe (#15) from Puerto Rico made a stunning debut, clinching second place in his very first AEKL race — an impressive result that positions him as one of Yamori’s main rivals in the fight for the AEKL championship.
Taking third place was Parker Traut (#6), who had some heated on-track battles — even with his own brother! As we all know, there are no friends on the racetrack — every driver is fighting for victory.

Next Round — New York City!
The next stop on the AEKL calendar is New York, taking place July 19-20. Teams are hard at work preparing to make these races even bigger, faster, and more competitive than ever!
