When altitude meets adrenaline: two action-packed American Electric Karting League rounds in Georgia’s toughest electric karting circuit – Atlanta Motorsports Park
The largest field of drivers and teams
The American Electric Karting League (AEKL) brought electric racing to new heights with Rounds 5 and 6 held at the legendary Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) — a circuit known for its sharp elevation changes, blind apexes, and punishing technical layout. Recognized as one of the most demanding tracks in the United States, AMP tested both man and machine in a high-stakes weekend that reshaped the championship narrative.
Not only was this the largest field of drivers and teams to date in AEKL’s 2025 season, but also a showcase of emerging talent, next-gen performance benchmarks, and relentless team rivalries.
Local Hero vs. National Contenders – The Heavy Class Drama
In Round 5, Leonardo Oliveira (#44), the local favorite and DCT Karting team lead, delivered a standout performance — clocking a blistering 52.46 second lap on his home track, racing with the Sodi chassis. But in Round 6, his attempt to push the limits further with an alternative tire compound (testing regulations) backfired. Despite crossing the line first with an official record time of 50.86 seconds, Oliveira’s points from this race were not counted, but his lap time record was retained as the championship points result was annulled due to tire non-compliance.
That opened the door for rising star Kellan Spears (#81) to grab his first AEKL Heavy Class victory, with consistent frontrunner Jack Lindner (#9) securing second and Kyler Carnes (#22) holding onto his championship lead with a strong third-place finish.
The Light Class: Chaos, Recovery, and a Showdown for the Ages
The Light Class final in Round 6 will be remembered as a strategic masterpiece born from chaos. Early collisions and a multi-pilot pile-up in the pre-finals forced all top drivers to restart from the back of the grid. What followed was one of the most intense comeback battles in AEKL history.
Yamori Cihardson (#7), the series leader, fended off aggressive, wheel-to-wheel challenges from the fearless Darius Woronowicz (#161), dubbed the “madman of Light Class.” Despite constant pressure, Yamori held his position to take his sixth AEKL win and extend his points lead.
Title Battle Heats Up as Championship Enters Final Rounds
The battle for the championship title has now truly begun, as it’s no longer easy for participants to keep increasing their points — especially for those who have already competed in more than five races. Only the best five results with the highest points are counted towards the championship standings.
As a result, Kyler is currently the leader, but Jack is close behind and still has the chance to boost his points total, as he has not yet completed five races. This means the fight for first place in the Heavy class is still wide open, and all drivers must push for every point they can get.
The end of the season is also made more challenging by the arrival of new drivers in the league, who are showing strong performance and often take top points away from the current front-runners.
With two rounds remaining, the battle for the title is far from over.
Yamori Dominates Light Class as Battle for 2nd and 3rd Heads to Daytona Finale
In the Light class, the fight for first place is practically over — the so-far unbeaten Yamori has secured the maximum number of points, and at this stage, it is almost impossible for any other driver to surpass him.
Meanwhile, the battle for 2nd and 3rd place remains wide open. The Traut brothers are closely competing, with Dairus right on their heels. Thanks to his strong performance — and the fact that he has competed in fewer races and can still improve his total points — Dairus remains a serious contender.
Additionally, as the number of Light class participants has increased in the recent rounds, earning points has become more challenging.
Who will claim 2nd and 3rd place overall in the 2025 American Electric Karting League season will be decided in the final round at Daytona International Speedway.
